{"id":17233,"date":"2025-06-20T16:51:56","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T16:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cognita.network\/stgis\/?post_type=school_news&#038;p=17233"},"modified":"2026-02-03T09:57:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T09:57:30","slug":"students-compete-focus-sportsmanship-iszn-chess-tournament","status":"publish","type":"school_news","link":"https:\/\/cognita.network\/stgis\/school-news\/students-compete-focus-sportsmanship-iszn-chess-tournament\/","title":{"rendered":"Agency in Action: A Bold First for ISZN\u2019s Middle Years Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"300\" data-end=\"447\">On Thursday, June 19th, ISZN\u2019s Grade 8 students presented the culmination of a six-month journey \u2014 the first-ever <strong data-start=\"414\" data-end=\"435\">Grade 8 Challenge<\/strong> Exhibition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"449\" data-end=\"792\">This student-led project encouraged learners to pursue a topic they were genuinely passionate about and to develop a final product that reflected their curiosity, creativity, and voice. From app design to tackling the ethics of AI, fast fashion, and renewable energy, each project was a window into the interests and concerns of today\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"1073\">But the Grade 8 Challenge was about more than what students produced \u2014 it was about <em data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"909\">who they became along the way<\/em>. Through research, mentoring, collaboration, and reflection, students built confidence, confronted self-doubt, and developed the skills to lead their own learning.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1075\" data-end=\"1273\">As one of our key Middle Years innovations, the Challenge brings together academic rigour and social-emotional development \u2014 giving students the tools to shape their futures with purpose and agency.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1275\" data-end=\"1412\">We&#8217;re very proud of our Grade 8 learners and grateful to the staff, mentors, and families who guided and supported them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, June 19th, ISZN\u2019s Grade 8 students presented the culmination of a six-month journey \u2014 the first-ever Grade 8 Challenge Exhibition.
