At ISZN, we celebrated together on <strong data-start=\"482\" data-end=\"503\">Friday, 3 October<\/strong>, with a wonderful show of community spirit.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"197\" data-end=\"222\"><strong>A Gesture of Thanks<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"224\" data-end=\"566\">Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) surprised staff with a beautifully prepared brunch \u2013 a heartfelt gesture that reminded us how collaboration between parents and teachers strengthens our school. The food was excellent and the appreciation was well received \u2013 it provided a lovely example of the supportive relationships that define ISZN.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"568\" data-end=\"950\">In addition, the PTA created an <strong data-start=\"600\" data-end=\"621\">Appreciation Tree<\/strong>, where parents wrote personal notes to their children\u2019s teachers, sharing what they value most. From celebrating small daily acts of care to recognising the inspiration teachers spark in the classroom, the tree quickly filled with messages of gratitude. It was a moving reminder of how much our teachers mean to our community.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Global Context<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>World Teachers\u2019 Day was first established by UNESCO and the International Labor Organization in 1966 to recognise teachers\u2019 rights, responsibilities, and vital role in society. Since its first celebration in 1994, it has grown into a global tradition. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cRecasting teaching as a collaborative profession,<em data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1295\">\u201d<\/em> speaks directly to what we value at ISZN: learning and growing together, with shared responsibility and mutual support. You can read more about the day on the <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/days\/teachers?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1529\">UNESCO World Teachers\u2019 Day page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Our Heads of Schools on What Makes ISZN Teachers Special<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In line with this year\u2019s theme, our school leaders emphasised that collaboration lies at the heart of ISZN \u2014 not only between teachers and parents, but most importantly within the teaching teams themselves. Both spoke about the qualities they see in our staff each day and the impact these qualities have on students.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1838\" data-end=\"2176\"><em data-start=\"1838\" data-end=\"1870\">Sarah Lowery, Head of Primary:<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1838\" data-end=\"2176\">\u201cHaving taught nine years at ISZN, I\u2019ve seen the dedication of our teachers first-hand. They go above and beyond to make sure children feel confident, cared for, and challenged in their learning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2178\" data-end=\"2584\"><em data-start=\"2178\" data-end=\"2213\">Chris Derrick, Head of Secondary:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur teachers play an invaluable role in developing our students. Teaching isn\u2019t just about academics \u2014 it\u2019s about shaping futures and making the world a better place. What strikes me most is our teachers\u2019 professionalism and passion. They support students tirelessly, not only in their studies but also in their wellbeing and growth as individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Day of Gratitude<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>World Teachers\u2019 Day is not only a chance to celebrate teachers everywhere, but also a reminder of the many ways schools thrive when staff, students, and families work together.
