[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]ISZN celebrated Sustainability Week with activities designed to engage students across the school and encourage reflection on sustainable habits.<\/p>\n

The goals were tailored to meet students\u00a0at\u00a0different year groups. In Primary, the focus was on involvement and education. Students learned the \u201cTriple R\u201d method of\u00a0reduce,\u00a0reuse\u00a0and\u00a0recycle\u00a0to help build long-lasting sustainable habits.<\/p>\n

Primary students also took a\u00a0hands on\u00a0approach by collaborating on a decorative bin wrap. They painted,\u00a0drew\u00a0and created 3D objects to decorate paper covers that will show their homeroom trash bins.<\/p>\n

Students Leading Sustainability<\/h3>\n

In Secondary, the focus shifted towards awareness and reflection. Students examined how their habits may be unsustainable and were encouraged to commit to a change. Some recycled old clothing while others posted personal sustainability goals on the community bulletin board.<\/p>\n

Students also took part in daily sustainability challenges. They earned stamps for completing eco-friendly tasks each day and collected them for a final certificate of participation.<\/p>\n

Students from the Sustainability Team\u00a0organised\u00a0the week. They introduced the\u00a0programme\u00a0during an assembly, explained the daily\u00a0challenges\u00a0and managed the\u00a0logistics\u00a0of hosting the guest speaker. They also prepared materials for the Primary bin decorating activity and supported younger students during the creative process.<\/p>\n

Francisco, a Grade 11 student and Sustainability Team Leader, reflected on the goal of the week:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal was to help students think about the habits we have every day and how small changes can make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

Connecting Sustainability with Global Challenges<\/h3>\n

Students also attended a session with guest speaker Stephanie Nicol. She spoke about her work with Save the Children<\/a> and her collaboration with UN agencies to protect health,\u00a0education\u00a0and fundamental rights in the face of global challenges.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the goal\u00a0is for the Triple R system to move from a weeklong theme to a natural habit. Students are encouraged to apply reducing,\u00a0reusing\u00a0and recycling in their everyday lives both at school and at home.<\/p>\n
