Shannon Magni is from Ridgefield, Connecticut. She attended the University of Connecticut where she double majored in Spanish Language and Communication, and Latin American Studies with a concentration in Human Rights. During her college years, she spent two semesters abroad, studying indigenous cultures in Cuzco, Peru, then U.S. – Cuba relations in Havana, Cuba. She worked in public policy at the Hispanic Federation for two years before heading into education. She spent over two years teaching English privately and as a classroom teacher in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Her love for learning languages and culture was further developed through extensive travel to over 30 countries, including time spent learning Portuguese in Brazil. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Spanish linguistics at Middlebury Language Schools. She loves to share her love of Spanish and Latin American culture with the students of York Prep.
