Creative Arts

The art department at Regent’s Park Prep School inspires students, supports their creative endeavours, and takes over the halls, walls and display spaces across the building.

There is no scale too big for Regent’s Park art; students of all ages come together to contribute to whole school and group projects, experimenting with processes in abstract expressionism, 3D printing, textiles and sculpture, to name a few.

Every child is an artist at Regent’s Park Prep School, as recognised by our annual 'Big Exhibition', which displays artwork by every student in the school. Other exhibitions include the Year 8 Exhibition, which showcases everything students complete in their two years in Upper School, as well as the Sketchbook Evenings we hold for each year group.

There are a number of students who really excel within our creative community and the art department regularly supports students in Years 6 and 8 apply for, and earn, scholarship places at their senior school destinations. From Year 5, we prepare students for their scholarship applications in a morning portfolio club.

Our creative after school clubs provision is constantly evolving, with some of our firm favourites including Calligraphy, Anime, Street Art, and Model-Making.

And as for the experiences which inspire students' creative processes, trips to exhibitions and galleries across London see Year 3 immerse themselves in FRAMELESS, Year 7 explore The Courtauld Gallery, Year 8 tour Shoreditch street art, and much more. Renowned competitions such as Young Art at The Royal College of Art and the Young Artists' Summer Show at The Royal Academy complement the many internal competitions we hold in school.

To finish this lovely half term, we have the second layer on 5Killen's lino prints. These three stunning designs are by Leah, Tavor and Henry.

They've had to carve out each section carefully using lino cutters and then print them precisely on top of their previous designs, thinking about how the new colours contrast with the base layer. After half term, we'll be printing a third and final layer to bring these complex patterns together.

Well done boys and girls! 🤖⚙️🎨

You may be wondering what Year 4 have been up to lately—and believe me, what is coming next is incredibly exciting! To whet your appetite, take a look at these spectacular designs for their very own ‘Allémon’ creatures. These hybrid animals were created by building on the children's science knowledge of animal adaptation traits, merging different features to survive in the wild.

The resulting artwork is absolutely incredible! The children used vibrant watercolours to bring their imaginative beasts to life, mapping out scales, wings, shells, and spikes with wonderful precision. We are so proud of their creativity and simply cannot wait to see where this exciting project takes them next!

These four are by Rey, Raania, Sibby and Gabriel in 4Morley. @alleynsregentspark

Our brilliant Year 2 artists have been working incredibly hard on these fantastic wooden rollercoaster masterpieces. To create these high-speed scenes, the children first experimented with Brusho Crystal Colour (Highly concentrated, dry pigment powder crystals that burst into vibrant, transparent watercolour the moment they touch water, creating those spectacular, dramatic skies)

They then built up the intricate wooden structures with paint before finishing off the final details, tracks, and daring passengers using fine-line work. A massive well done to Saad, Demi, Sayuri, Jonny, Talia, Alex Z, Aaiylah, and Elliott - the sense of movement and excitement in each piece is absolutely brilliant. Sensational work, boys and girls! 🖌️🎨✨ @alleynsregentspark
