Our Methodology
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop caring, knowledgeable and motivated young people who contribute to creating a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and critical thinking.
We have been an IB World School since 2016 and are part of an international network of more than 4,000 schools. Since implementing the programme, our academic results have consistently remained above the international average, achieving a 100% pass rate.
In the 2023/24 academic year, our students achieved an average score of 35.05 out of 45 points, equivalent to 8.56 in the Spanish university entrance grading system.
In addition, our teaching staff continuously participate in specialised IB training programmes, making Liceo Sorolla International School a reference centre visited by other schools interested in learning about our educational model.
A Programme with an International Perspective
The Diploma Programme (DP) is a two-year pre-university programme created by the International Baccalaureate Organization for highly motivated students aged 16 to 18, providing access to universities around the world.
The curriculum is organised around six subject groups and three compulsory core components: the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS).
At Liceo Sorolla International School, students who complete the Diploma Programme also obtain the Spanish Baccalaureate qualification, achieving a double qualification automatically. Students study six subjects in total: three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). The difference between Higher Level and Standard Level subjects lies in the number of teaching hours, as well as the depth of assessment and coursework requirements.

Ángel Llorente International Baccalaureate Scholarship
The Ángel Llorente Academic Excellence Scholarships cover 100% of the cost of International Baccalaureate studies. A new scholarship application process takes place every year, and the scholarship is automatically renewed provided that students maintain an average grade of 8.0 or above and comply with the school’s academic and behavioural standards.
Achieve an average grade equivalent to “Notable” (8.0 or above) in Years 9 and 10, as well as during the first two assessment periods of Year 11.
Applicants must provide two certified copies of their academic reports from the previous two school years and the first two assessment periods of the current year.
Provide proof that the student is officially registered as living in the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón through a certificate of residency.
New applicants must successfully complete the school’s admissions process.
