Innovation in Education
At Liceo Sorolla International School, we understand educational innovation as a continuous process of improving the way students learn and teachers inspire. We are moving towards a pedagogical model where learning becomes a shared experience and teachers act as facilitators of each student’s individual success.
At Liceo Sorolla, we understand excellence not only as academic achievement, but also as the result of an exceptional teaching team with outstanding human qualities, capable of connecting with each student’s purpose and guiding them towards becoming the best version of themselves. This innovative approach to teaching is based on three key methodologies:
Cooperative Learning: Innovation in the Classroom Through Neuroscience
Our cooperative learning methodology is based on neuroscience and encourages social interaction and active participation in the learning process.
This methodology:
Is supported by neuroscience applied to education.
Encourages active student participation.
Combines individual, pair and team-based work.
Project-Based Learning
This learning approach promotes deeper understanding and academic specialisation.
Through project-based learning, students develop:
Research and analytical skills.
Critical thinking.
The ability to connect ideas and apply them in real-life contexts.
Across all subjects, students work on both individual and group projects of varying lengths and complexity.
Themed Classrooms
To make everyday learning more dynamic and meaningful, we have developed a themed classroom model where students rotate between classrooms throughout the day.
In this model:
Teachers remain in their specialised classroom.
Students move between learning spaces.
Classroom design and decoration support the learning experience.
This approach encourages:
Greater teacher specialisation.
More visual and stimulating environments.
A more active learning experience.
A Thoughtful Approach to Technology
At Liceo Sorolla International School, we respect students’ developmental stages and therefore do not introduce personal devices until Secondary Education. Technology at Liceo Sorolla is always used with a clear educational purpose: to enrich learning, encourage creativity and prepare students for the future. From Year 7 onwards, we work with a 1:1 model that combines face-to-face and digital learning.
Our approach includes:
The use of the O365 environment for collaborative learning
Integration of devices such as iPads and laptops
Development of computational thinking from an early age
Progressive teaching of programming within Technology lessons
